Pursued by a loving God
We believe that those who invest their hearts, time, families, and finances into the building of a local church deserve to have confidence in church leadership.
Everywhere we turn, it seems as if people today are looking for leaders who will conduct themselves with integrity and respect when making decisions that affect people’s lives.
This is why any position of leadership at New Point is held with great humility and understanding that the primary leader to the church is always Jesus. Our responsibility as leaders is to follow His lead to the best of our ability.
Pastor Jordan came to New Point Church in June of 2015 to serve as Teaching Pastor, and also oversee the Tech & Production Department.
In January of 2018, he became the Lead Pastor.
For nearly fifteen years, Jordan has served as a Lead Pastor, Youth Pastor, Associate Pastor, and Creative Media Director. No matter the role he has found himself in, Jordan has always sought to help people experience Jesus in ways that would change their life.
Prior to coming to New Point, he was a Creative Media Specialist at the University of Iowa. As a communicator, he continues to use the creative skills he has learned in the church and in his profession to present the Gospel in creative ways.
Jordan and his wife Lindsey have been married since 2005 and have four young daughters; Madison, Maiah, Mackenzie, and Mollie. He is a graduate of INSTE Bible College in 2005 where he studied Theology. He is also a graduate of Kirkwood Community College with a degree in Web Technologies.
Pastor Josh and his family began attending New Point Church in the summer of 2017 and in December of 2017, he joined the staff as Teaching Pastor. He also oversees the Youth Ministry.
Prior to coming to New Point, Josh was a Youth Pastor, for seven years and a Head Pastor, for ten years.
He is passionate about helping people of all ages encounter The Father’s love, build a deep and lasting relationship with Jesus, and become empowered through the work of The Holy Spirit.
In his free time, he enjoys following Iowa Hawkeye sports, reading, and watching movies.
Josh and his wife Carrie have been married since 2002 and have one son, Lincoln.
As the Worship and Creative Arts Director, Melia is heavily involved in children, youth, and adult worship services.
Melia has been involved in worship ministries since she was in her early-teens, but has been actively leading worship for the past 8 years. When she was 13, she realized she was called to be a worship leader, and she has walked in that calling ever since. She feels so blessed to lead New Point every Sunday in ushering in God’s presence.
Melia loves spending time with her husband Jacob and their son Knox. She also enjoys road trips, naps, and chips and queso.
Emily came to New Point in 2005 with her husband Jason. They both love how welcoming New Point is and that they walk away with a message each week that they can apply to their lives.
Emily began with our children’s ministry in 2009 and is now one of our Children’s Directors here at New Point. She is blessed to have the opportunity to help our kids learn about Jesus in a fun and exciting way. She loves people and enjoys seeing them find their place within our church.
When she is not working in children’s ministry she enjoys spending time with her husband, Jason and their children: Jackson, Bennett and Stella. She loves to entertain and loves to cook.
If you have any questions about children’s ministry, please do not hesitate to ask!
Kate and her husband, Jeff, began at New Point in 2006. They love the people, the music, the messages and they always knew they wanted to raise their family in this church.
Kate is the Nursery Director at New Point. She is blessed to take care of the youngest members of our church. She is happy to provide them with a safe and loving environment while their parents are learning in the auditorium.
Kate and Jeff have three children: Makylah, Kaelsten and Taelyn. She is inspired by her kids and love how they teach her something on a daily basis.
Teri began attending New Point in 1998. “It was life changing. I knew a lot about God, and about being a Christian.” she says. “It was at New Point I felt like I met Jesus for the first time.”
Teri came on staff at New Point in 2006, and worked there until she felt God calling her to a season of missions. “It was in missions where I learned the most about walking with God. Sometimes, I felt I was being stretched past the point of breaking,” she says, “but, it was there I found out just how faithful God is.”
In 2020, Teri started working at New Point again, doing some of the things she did in her previous position. “It’s like coming home in a sense. Yet, I sense God moving in fresh ways. It’s exciting to be a part of it!”
Along with working at New Point, Teri’s also a wife, mom, and grandmother, who loves to write sci-fi/fantasy, garden, and hike in her spare time.
